Freezing Fear

This workshop is one in a series of three about the emotions, aimed at parents children (6-11yrs ) and educators. When we are afraid the body goes into a physiological response called fight or flight or freeze response. This involves the release of neurochemicals to get the body ready to fight for its life or run for it. When the body doesn’t fight or flee, there is nothing to burn the neurochemicals. They build up and bring intense emotion and physical sensations (such as a racy heart, sick tummy, clammy hands) that feel awful. In this workshop we will explore the freeze response in safe ways using the Dragon language and find out what can help children in these situations.

The Dragon language gives children a tool to be able to recognise and express what they feeling, without having to say a word until they are ready. You and your child will learn a new language and will practice using it in playful and creative ways.
